We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Global Logistics Director to join our organization. Since this is a global role this position will be located near an existing Invensys location.
The position is responsible for two key activities. First, the individual in this role will lead Logistics Procurement by being responsible for global coordination and procurement of transportation, warehousing, and other related value added logistics services. Secondly, the individual will be responsible for developing Invensys overall logistics strategy and working with regional and business unit leaders to implement a world-class execution and delivery system while continuing to drive continuous improvement throughout Invensys operating businesses.
The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, proven track record of change management and leadership, strategy development and demonstrate flexibility with regards to schedules and travel availability. They must also have a strong background in transportation sourcing (ocean, air, small parcel, truckload, LTL) and experience in developing and implementing new logistics strategies and be familiar with regulatory implications and secure supply strategies. .
The Global Logistics Director will be responsible for:
Leading global sourcing for transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, freight payment, and other value added third-party services needed to support Invensys’ global business units
Working with business unit operations personnel to measure and manage supplier performance and unique needs for each business
Managing spend with selected suppliers and working with business unit leaders in developing policies that ensure cost effectiveness processes and practices are in place and ensuring compliance to established policy
Leading the development of logistics strategies to minimize the enterprises cost while meeting customer service goals. Adapting strategies to the changing business strategy
Developing and maintaining a reporting methodology geared towards understanding overall logistics performance globally
Work with other functional organizations to develop and deploy a Global secure supply chain and secure customer supply in response to business needs and evolving regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain or other related field. Masters in Business desirable but not required
Work Experience:
10-15 years in the supply chain and logistics field.
Previous leadership of significant global transportation spend
Experience in influencing change in a large global organization
Necessary Skills:
Deep knowledge of the transportation and third-party logistics industries including best practices and industry trends
Global contract negotiation and contract management
Knowledge of regulatory regulations governing import/export. Familiarity with implementing supply chain security programs
Strong analytical skills. Ability to breakdown problems into components and attack by largest cost/benefit. Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, and other analytical tools
Adept at developing new logistics strategies which reduce cost and/or better support the an organization’s business strategy
Ability to work with multi functions and multiple levels of the organization to understand their business goals
Very strong ability to influence those across a diverse global organization – from operations-level to executive level
Familiarity with working with third-party freight payment agencies, logistics-related IT systems, and SAP
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence a diverse multi-cultural team
Demonstrated developing abilities in change management, performance management, and team building
Fully competent in demonstrating openness, self-confidence, and emotional awareness; managing interactions with others; building value-based relationships; exerting personal influence; driving customer-based business strategies; understanding the system; accepting and building accountability; and using judgment and common sense.
Understanding of different cultures and their working styles and be able to manage cross-cultural teams well.
Location:
Open – the position will be located near an Invensys site/facility.
Travel:
The position requires travel 30% to 50% domestic and international travel.
